At Merritts Brook Academy we believe that the learning of a foreign language provides an exciting experience for our pupils. We believe it helps children to develop communication and literacy skills that lay the foundation for future language learning. Learning another language raises awareness of the different languages spoken around the world and gives them an insight into our own culture and those of others, providing an exciting way to celebrate the diversity of the city we live in. The learning of a foreign language provides opportunities for cross-curricular links and for reinforcement of knowledge, skills and understanding developed in other subjects.
