Our First Weeks in Nursery
We have all settled in so well! We have been exploring our new environment, meeting new friends and learning Nursery rules and routines. Mrs Johnson, Mrs Hughes and Miss King have been singing lots of songs with us and sharing stories.
Take a look at our first few weeks....
We invited our Families in to nursery to enjoy a Family Snack Morning together.
We shared pictures of our family, made a pictures to go in to our Nursery Family Snack Morning book.
We also taught our families how to do The Skeleton dance and the Tofa Tafa dance. We all had so much fun learning together.
We have been Safety Inspectors in Nursery. Mrs Hughes led us in a safety inspection around our environment, indoors and outdoors. We spotted chairs that needed pushing under tables, toys on the floor and coats on the floor that we picked up. We also made sure all of the doors and gates were locked. They were!!
Letters and Sounds Parent Workshop.
Our families came to Nursery to join in with our learning. They took part in lots of phonic activities. We made voice sounds, body sounds, joined in with rhymes, explored sounds using instruments and made a Sound Bag to go home. We had a lovely time sharing our learning with our families.
We became Fire fighters in Nursery!
We have been thinking about how to keep safe in Nursery!
We all became Fire fighters. We dressed up in the uniform, travelled down the fire pole, raced in the Fire engine to put out the fire. We have lots of fun engaging in imaginative play with our friends.
We also made sparkling firework pictures and moved like a firework.
It all began when mysterious suitcases were left in our playground. One was addressed to us in Nursery and it belonged to Goldilocks.
What was it all about?
Nursery just like the rest of the school explored what was inside. It was full of the Three Bears belongings. We decided that it was wrong of Goldilocks to take the Three Bears belongings and we were going to help her to say "sorry" and return the things back to the bears safely.
Therefore in Nursery this week we have made lots of marks in sand, foam, glitter, oats and on paper. With paints, pens, chalk and pencils.
Winter Wonderland Trip
We all enjoyed a lovely day at Wonderland with our families. We explored all of the fairy tale houses, went on rides and even saw some dinosaurs! We also visited Santa and his Elves, he gave us a special letter and a present. Wow!
Christmas Craft Morning
Today we invited our parents to a fun filled Christmas craft morning. We sang Christmas songs and made lots of decorations to hang on our Christmas trees. We used lots and lots of glitter, the classroom was sparkling!!!
Christmas Jumper Day
Today we all came to Nursery wearing a Christmas Jumper to support national 'Christmas Jumper Day' in support of 'Save the Children.' We really enjoyed comparing our lovely festive jumpers!
Which Dinosaur was the biggest?
The mystery postman delivered an egg to Nursery - there was a dinosaur inside call Dipsy. We have been looking after him and learning all about dinosaurs. We have created a Dino Den and painted pictures of dinosaurs. We also went on an exploration looking for dinosaurs around Nursery. We made our own dinosaur called Merrit- osaurus.
Healthy Living Week
We have been thinking about developing our Health and Self Care. We have focused on washing and drying our hands, putting our coats on and using tools safely. We had an exciting smoothie bike arrive in Nursery. The grown ups had to pedal the bike really fast to make the smoothie, we all helped by running fast to power the bike. Afterwards we talked about how our bodies felt different after we had moved around.
We also made a fruit salad with Mrs Hughes. It was delicious!
Numbers, numbers all around in Nursery!
Wow! The children have been working so hard in Nursery to develop their number skills. They are making marks and using their fingers to represent numbers. Recognising when two groups are the same and counting actions as well as objects. Mrs Johnson thinks we are amazing!
Celebrating Number Day in Nursery.
Celebrating Number Day
We joined the rest of the school today by celebrating number day in Nursery and supporting a very good cause, the NSPCC. We came dressed in number clothes and took part in lots of fun number activities including making and decorating number cakes, mark making numbers and singing lots of number rhymes. We love numbers in Nursery!!
Parent Mark Making Workshop
We had such fun sharing mark making ideas with Nursery parents. We all explored different ways to make marks and strengthen our fine motor skills. We made marks with paint, chalk, pens and our fingers. We made marks in paint, sand, porridge oats, icing sugar and foam. We also all enjoyed disco dough together. A huge "thank you" to all our parents for your support - we hope you enjoy exploring all of these new mark making ideas at home!
How many colours are in the
We had a mysterious box left for us in Nursery- it was from the Mystey postman again! He knows that we are going to be learning all about colours. We are going to be colour explorers, mixing and exploring colours, how they change and what hey are used for.
We will be enjoying stories such as, Rainbow Fish, Elmer, The very hungry caterpillar and the colourful chameleon.
We also have a Colour Potion Lab in Nursery where we dress like scientists and make special colour potions.
We can't wait to begin our learning!
Today we celebrated 'pancake day' in Nursery by solving number problems with pancakes. There were 4 children sat at the table, however we only had 2 pancakes. What were we going to do?
Nursery were fantastic problem solvers and suggested "cutting up the pancakes" or "going to the shop to buy more." Super ideas!!
World Book Day
Today we celebrated our love of reading stories by dressing up as our favourite characters for World Book Day. We even went over to the assembly in the big hall for the first time ever! We were fabulous and we looked fantastic in our out fits!!!
Easter Craft Morning
Today we invited our families in to Nursery to celebrate Easter.
We made Easter Bunny masks, cards, marbled eggs and lots of other exciting things.
We iced cakes and sang Easter songs. We have especially enjoyed singing: "Chick, chick, chick, chick, chicken, lay a little egg for me.."
We had an 'egg- cellent' morning! 🐣🐰🐥
The Easter Bunny visited Nursery!
Oh my goodness, today we arrived at Nursery to find a terrible mess! The Easter Bunny had left us a message and an awful untidy mess to clear up. Chairs were knocked down, toys left everywhere, however he also left another surprise...Easter Eggs!
We all went on an Easter egg hunt and found 26 eggs - yummy!
Can we explore it?
The Mystery Postman delivered a back pack to Nursery - it belonged to an explorer!
This half term Nursery are going to become explorers - we've already been on a bear hunt and we have created a woodland to explore inside our Nursery classroom!
