2014-2015 Project

Following a pupil survey which revealed that many children would like the playground to be improved, school council have been working hard to make changes.

They meet regularly and have made good progress towards the goal.

So far they have:

  • finalised a selection of playground markings and equipment that the children would like to be installed.
  • presented their plan to the Principal
  • Organised 2 fundraising events raising over £280
  • spoken to the site manager about their plans
  • The site manager has made a buddy bench and installed it in the playground.

As well as this on going project, school council raise other issues which are being looked at.

  • school toilets - Mr Varney came to our meeting 18th March. He will ensure the soap dispensers are filled and look at locks for the doors.
  • tuck shop (Mr Maguire and Mrs Mann have organised a tuck shop)
  • PE equipment (This has now been ordered)
  • reading books (Reading books for the library have been ordered)
  • blinds in the classrooms - Mr Varney has had a quote, we are waiting on government funding to pay for them.
  • drinking bottles/fountains - "      "       "
  • Sports Day planning -School council have shared children's ideas about the events and themes that they would like to happen on sports day with Mr McDermot.
  • Healthy tuck shop - Our new tasty tuck shop takes place every Wednesday break time. Don't forget to bring in £1.

In September school council, in consultation with every pupil, agreed on a code of conduct for our school. It is displayed all around school and is referred to regularly.
