Hello and Thank you for visiting the Reception class page
My name is Mr Demski and I am the Reception class teacher & our Teaching Assistant is Miss Todd.
We absolutely love teaching all of the hard working and enthusiastic children in Reception.
Throughout the year this page will be filled with pictures and information
of all the fun activities that we have been taking part in.
The circus came into school one day and taught us loads of amazing circus tricks
We learnt how to gracefully move two coloured scarves
We learnt how to balance a long feather on our fingers (it was very tricky)
Also we had the opportunity to spin plates (plastic) and begin to learn how to juggle
It was a lot of fun we had a great time
We celebrated the Queen's birthday by making our own royal crowns
We also made the Queen some birthday cards and wrote her a special Birthday message
Also we made our own Union Jack British flags
Then we had a party with loads of great music and lots of cakes, biscuits and sweets
Dudley Zoo - School Visit
A lady from Dudley Zoo came to visit us.
She showed us lots of mini-beasts
We saw and held a exotic snail, a hissing cockroach, a tarantula, a stick insect, a beetle and some meal worms.
It was a lot of fun and we learnt a lot about the different mini-beasts.
P.E - Using the apparatus
We really enjoy using both the small and large apparatus in P.E
We have to climb, crawl and balance along the different pieces of equipment
The animal lady came into school to show us lots of different animals
She showed us a tarantula, a snake some lizards, a fox, a hedgehog and a owl
We really enjoyed learning about all the different animals
In our classroom we have some visitors - five little caterpillars.
Everyday we are checking to see how big they have grown.
They spun into their cocoons and after a few days some beautiful butterflies emerged.
We made our own spiders
Firstly we had to roll the squidgy plasticine into a ball.
Then we added some pipe cleaner legs.
Finally we added some googly eyes.
Do you like our creepy crawly spiders?

Our first P.E lesson
We love taking part in P.E activities - balancing, jumping, hoping running and skipping
We explored which foods are and are not healthy for us and why they are.
We looked closely at the healthy foods looking at the similarities and differences between them
It's ok to eat chocolates and sweets occasionally just not all of the time
We joined the whole school in the hall to take part in the two minute silence.
We then made our own poppies using plates and tissue paper to remember the solider's who fought in the wars.
Our grown up's joined us to take part in many different phonic activities. We made play dough letters, we practiced forming our letters in the sand and on the large sheet of paper, we sorted objects based on their initial letter sounds and we explored many different phonic books - plus many more different phonic activities - Take a look at the pictures below.
We learnt all about Bonfire Night and how to be safe around fireworks and sparklers.
Mr Demski showed us a firework and explained that we are not to touch them or to stand too close to the fireworks.
Miss Todd then lit a sparkler to show us the correct way to hold one - at arms length - Then once the sparkler has finished we have to put it in water as it's still very very very hot!
We then decided to make our own firework pictures by splattering lots of different colours of paint on our paper.
We are having so much fun learning about and exploring all of the Autumn treasures.
We made our own conkers and some leaf rubbings.
We are learning to count objects and we are also learning to add one more using some delicious apples.
