Reception 2016/2017

 Hello welcome to our Reception class page 

My name is Mr Demski and I am the Reception class teacher. Our Teaching Assistants are Miss Habermacher, Miss King & Mrs Hughes.

 We absolutely love teaching all of the hard working and enthusiastic children in Reception. 

Throughout the year this page will be filled with pictures and information

of all the fun activities that we have been taking part in. 

Sports Day 

We had a Glorious Day!  

Our parents joined us for our sports day 

We took part in many different events including the egg and spoon race, the beanbag race, a javelin throw and the hoop race

We had so much fun!

Dudley Zoo - School Visit 

 A lady from Dudley Zoo came to visit us.

She showed us lots of mini-beasts

We saw and held a exotic snail, a hissing cockroach, a tarantula, a stick insect, a beetle and some meal worms. 

It was a lot of fun and we learnt a lot about the different mini-beasts.

Time for the Reception Concert 

Every Wednesday we use the construction to make a microphone and on the song sheets we write our own songs. We rehearse our songs throughout the afternoon and then at the end of the day we perform our songs to the rest of the class.

Easter Craft Afternoon with our Families 

Our families joined us for the afternoon to make lot's of different easter items.

We decorated some eggs, made an easter basket and we also made some bunnies

and chicks

We had lot's of fun have a look at the pictures below

Our School trip to the farm

We visited a farm on our school trip we had such a good time 

We saw and learnt about lots of different animals including sheep, cows, pigs, chickens goats and even guinea pigs and rabbits. 

We bottle fed milk to some newly born lambs and also fed some very hungry goats

We had a ride on a tractor and helped to collect eggs from the chickens 

It was such a lovely day!

We love our new chicks 

We learnt how to hold them and that we have to be gentle with them 

We are looking after them making sure that they are warm, safe and have plenty of food & water

Chick Hatching 

Our chicks have finally hatched we have welcomed three new members into our class

We watched the chicks hatch out of their shells 

We then drew pictures of the chicks and came up with suggestions for names for them

We also closely studied the shells writing about everything that we could see

Using the iPads we took pictures and made videos of the chicks

Finally we made some homes for the chicks

We are really EXCITED!

Mothers Day 

 

We invited our Mummy's, Granny's Aunties and our families to join us for our Mother's Day event. We sang our special Mother's Day songs that we have been practicing and then we listened to a special Mother's Day Story and finally we gave our special gifts of flowers and cards to our Mums.

Red Nose Day

 

We wore Red for the day and brought in a £1 to help raise money for Comic relief

Chick Hatching 

 

We are very excited as we have some eggs in our special incubator in the classroom

​​​​​​​We will hopefully be welcoming some baby chicks into our class in the next few weeks 

We are checking the eggs daily for any developments

Parent's Writing Workshop

Our parents joined us for our writing workshop

We had a lot of fun writing and making lots of different marks. We used a variety of different writing tools and made our writing/marks in lots of different places 

We also took part in a lot of different fine motor/physical development activities

Half Term Homework Projects 

 

We have been working really hard at home with our families on our snowy half term projects

They all look so fantastic a lot of thought and hard work has been put into these projects

World Book Day 

 

We celebrated world book day by all dressing up as our favourite characters for the day

We took part in many different activities including story sequencing, role playing our favourite stories making the characters from the books and reading and exploring lots of different books

Pancake Day

We celebrated PancakeDayShroveTuesday by making & rolling our own pancakes following our recipes & then picking either chocolate or strawberry spread as a topping the best part was we got to eat them after yum! yum!

Igloo Building Project 

 

 We have been busy collecting lots of plastic bottles then in the last week before half term our parents joined us to make and construct our class igloo together.

We had a lot of fun making it and everyone helped and worked super hard

Number Day 

 

We all came dressed up in numbers for a fun filled number day. We also brought in £1 in to raise money for the NSPCC. We took part in many mathematical activities including a number hunt, number detectives trying to match the number to the right amount of dots on the lock, making a number line and arranging the numbers in the correct order.

Christmas Jumper Day 

Wearing our Christmas jumpers to raise money for save the children

Christmas Craft Afternoon 

Our parents joined us for our Christmas craft afternoon 

We made some decorations for our Christmas trees, decorated our Christmas cookies, made some really long  paper chains, wrote a Christmas card

& best of all we made some Magic reindeer food to sprinkle outside for Santa's reindeer on Christmas Eve

We had a lot of fun!

School Trip - Wonderland 

Together with nursery we enjoyed a fun filled day at Wonderland

We met Santa and received a present, had a lot of fun on lots of different rides 

We helped Mrs Clause to make some mince pies and met some of Santa's reindeers 

It was an extremely enjoyable day 

Families Week 

We talked all about our families and we all made a family tree drawing and labelling all of our family members

We also made some pots for our families out of clay which when then painted

At the end of the week our families joined us at school and we shared our family tree with them, sang some songs, participated in a family story and gave our pots to our families

Reading 

Our parents join us every Thursday and we explore and read loads of fantastic and really interesting books together.

Remembrance Day 

We gathered together to mark the two minutes silence at 11 O'clock on remembrance day. 

We wore our poppies with pride and we also made our own poppies.

We remembered all the soldiers who fought for our safety and freedom.

Family Snack Afternoon 

 

Our families joined us to take part in many different activities - we made our own finger prints - drew a self portrait and decorated our hand prints

We also enjoyed lots of tasty snacks - Yum, Yum!

Phonics Parent Workshop
 
Our parents and family members joined us to take part in many different phonic activities. We made play dough letters, we practiced forming our letters in the sand and on the large sheet of paper, we sorted objects based on their initial letter sounds and we explored many different phonic books - plus many more different phonic activities - Take a look at the pictures below.

Our First Few Days in Reception
