Year 2 Curriculum

2016-2017 curriculum overview:

In year 2 we develop phonics, reading, writing and maths skills daily. We use the new national curriculum as the foundation of our planning and deliver it using interesting and engaging strategies.

In English we learn about different story types including traditional tales, we also look at poetry, instruction writing and writing non-fiction reports. It is important that parents take regular opportunities to read as many different text types with their children. Ask Mrs Shazadi what the children are learning about in English this term to enable you to support your child's learning. You could visit the local library and find books linked to the topic.

The documents below detail what is taught throughout each term in year 2.

Our curriculum map for the year is below and details of each curriculum area are further down the page.
