As part of our end of topic celebration we invited our parents into school. Italy is not only the home of Romans (from our 'I am Warrior' topic) but it is also the home of good food. The children researched which Italian food they wanted to make. The majority chose pizzas. The children weighed, measured and made their own pizza bases in the morning. During the afternoon our parents helped us to top off our pizzas and create pizza boxes using 3D nets of cuboids.

This week was our writing focus week. Our children journeyed through a magical door to a world deep within their imagination. Year 4 travelled back to Ancient Rome. We wrote descriptively about the door. We thought carefully about how we would enter through it. Then we used our senses to describe what was on the other the side. We managed to include 'show not tell' and '3 ed sentences' within our writing. Lets hope we can build on the skills and experiences from this week. Ask your child all about it.
We have been working on our speaking and listening skills by writing and performing our own poetry. We have been gaining inspiration from poets such as Benjamin Zephaniah and Michael Rosen. We have written our own poems which create images. Please come and read our Year 4 anthology to see some of the poems we have written. I know lots of the children have been writing their own poems at home. I'd love to see some more.
